Sorry to hear of the death of my first cousin William George Murray. I first knew Willie when I was a boy of four; I can remember us catching Minnows in jam jars under the bridge of the River Cree, at Creebridge, Newton Stewart. Eight years my senior, he got a leathering from my father because he was falsely accused by a neighbour of letting me walk across the top of the bridge parapet. In truth it was only on the knee high approach where we dropped down onto grass leading down to a backwater. We lost contact in 1950 when my mother (his aunt) died but we were reunited in 2008 as a result of me doing my family tree research.
