YOUNG James Logie Young, student of Science (St Andrews), Martinmas, 1914, M. C. Lieutenant, 8th (Service) Battalion, The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders). Born August 16, 1893. Killed leading his Company near Meteren, July 19, 1918. The Military Cross was awarded to him, September 16, 1918, for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty, April 1918. When sent up to reinforce the line with his Company, he led it through the barrage with few casulaties, re-established the line, and took fifty-six prisoners. His Company held the line under machine gun and snipers fire until relieved next morning.
