CHIVERS Very peacefully, at Bridge View House Care Home, Dundee, on Sunday, June 24, 2018, Mary, dearly beloved daughter of the late Margaret and Charles, a very much loved cousin and a good friend to many. R. I. P. Reception of Remains, in St Ninian's R. C. Church, Dickson Avenue,Dundee, on Wednesday, July 4, at 5 p.m. Funeral Mass, on Thursday, July 5, at 10 a.m., to which all family and friends are invited. Interment thereafter, in Balgay Cemetery, at 11 a.m. Family flowers only, please, but donations in lieu may be given at the church for Mary's favourite charities.

It was my privilege to have met Mary when I was a young man at the crossroads of life and in much need of a wise counsellor. She became a good friend in whom I could confide throughout the rest of my life and whose sageadvice I always relied upon totally, absolutely and without reservation. Such was her gentle charisma.
In the exercise of her life-long teaching vocation Mary was a role model par excellence, responsible for the guidance of many trainee teachers and starting thousands of Dundee children on the first steps along the road to education and maturity. As a lifelong member of the Guide movement she will be remembered as a gifted and dedicated leader, a worthy member of the great guide sisterhood and a friend to everyone.
Above all Mary was a devoted daughter and practical Christian who will now be where she belongs, at rest with her dear mum and dad, Meg and Charlie. On behalf of the many people whose lives you touched, thank you, Mary, for giving of yourself so freely, and making the world a far better place than the one you were born into.
Well done, thou good and noble servant, we will not see your like again.
