GRAY Peacefully, at Forthbank Nursing Home, Stirling, on Friday, February 22, 2019, Belle, aged 90 years, formerly of Dundee and Broughty Ferry, much loved aunt, sister and sister-in-law. Funeral service will be on Monday, March 11, 2019, in Dundee Crematorium, at 1.30p.m., to which all friends and family are respectfully invited. Family flowers only please.

To the extended Gray family,
My husband, Paul and I, became acquainted with Belle in the late 1980s,when I wrote to the Tay Valley Historical Society and she, as a volunteer, wrote back. I addressed her as Isabella, and she advised me she was only Isabella on Sundays! Our correspondence was not only immensely helpful in establishing my family tree, (Lawsons and Boyles of Methven) but became a friendship.
We were fortunate to visit with her at her home on Striven Place on two occasions over the years, When I had no reply to a letter last fall and again at Christmas, I became concerned. and tried to find out what might have happened. I am deeply grateful to Andrew for taking the time to telephone with the sad news, and for his persistence, as my husband thought the number shown on the phone was from an overseas company that has been annoying us with unwelcome calls recently, and at first didn't even answer! When he did, he was very curt. Sorry, Andrew!
Over the years, Belle, who was so proud of all of you, often including photos and news of your families and visits in her letters. I feel as if I know many of you well. Paul and I will treasure her memory and send our deepest sympathies to all of you. She has surely lived a long and rich life, and as Andrew said, she had a wide circle of friends. We were privileged to be among them.
