GRAY Robert Hugh, Emeritus Professor St Andrews University, MBE, FAcSS, died at Ninewells Hospital, on Monday, June 26, 2020. Rob was a global leader in social and environmental accounting, establishing the Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR) in the early 1990s at the University of Dundee. The Centre then moved to Glasgow University before becoming permanently established at the University of St Andrews. He was a passionate academic and widely published author who had a global influence on accounting. He worked with many students, others around the world to develop research and practise in what was initially called, green accounting. His work on the importance of accountability, transparency, sustainability and the environment continued to the end of his life. His family would like to thank all friends, neighbours and colleagues for their kind messages, cards, flowers and support received following Rob's recent death. The funeral will take place at Dundee Crematorium, on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at 1.30 p.m. This will be a closed service but video streaming is available on request. The family kindly request that in lieu of flowers please send any donations to the RNLI and Trees for Life organisations.
