WOOD Professor Robert Anderson (Bertie) of Abernethy, Perthshire, died peacefully, in Elie, Fife, on Monday, January 3, 2022, a much loved husband, father and grandfather. Funeral service at Kirkcaldy Crematorium, on Saturday, January 22, at 11 a.m.

Dr. Wood (as I knew him) was an inspiration to me in my career and set me on my path to becoming a consultant anaesthetist and now Chair of Anesthesia at University of Ottawa in Canada. To me, it was apparent that his first concern was his patients, and that was incredibly motivating to a junior house officer at PRI as I was in 1992. He also imparted to me a belief in my own abilities that I lacked at that time and gave me the confidence to pursue specialist training. He was my first mentor and I am incredibly grateful.
