Funeral service at Dunkeld Cathedral, Friday, December 23, at 11.30 a.m. Flowers to W.K. Gerrie, Inver, Dunkeld PH8 0JR. Tel: 01350 727364.

It was a magical, unforgettable time we all spent together. I was forever grateful for everything I learned as a teacher working with delightful children like Freya. Such a wonderful, clever vision Veronica had to create a safe space for fragile children. The world needs more people like her. My kind regards to all of her family, Hazel Archibald

Veronica was a fearless campaigner for justice. We first met some forty years ago when she sought my assistance in establishing the Butler Trust a charity designed to acknowledge those who do outstanding work in the prison and probation service. Her energy and enthusiasm inspired many to support her in this worthwhile endeavour. She will be sadly missed. Terry Waite CBE
