RYLANCE Peacefully, in his own home, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Graham Finlay Rylance, aged 96 years (retired teacher of music, Kirkton High School, Dundee), adored husband of Margaret, loving dad of Jennifer, Russell, Linda, June and Graham, dear father-in-law, grandad, great-grandad, great-great-grandad, brother, uncle and friend to many. Funeral on Friday, May 12, service in Bankfoot Church Centre, at 1 p.m., thereafter to Auchtergaven Cemetery, Bankfoot, cortege arriving at 1.45 p.m., to which all are respectfully invited. Family flowers only, please, but if desired, there will be a retiring collection at the church for Cancer Research U.K., on behalf of Graham.

I first encountered Mr Rylance in the late 1970’s at music camp - he conducted the concert band at the music centre - strict but with a twinkle in his eye . In 1982 I joined the staff and Graham organised lifts for myself and Frances Patterson who taught woodwind.as we all lived in Perth and neither of us girls could drive at the time . After Graham retired , we kept in touch with an annual Christmas card - his musical puns/ jokes and meticulous calligraphy were a highlight of my Christmas post .
To Margaret and family , my deepest condolences on your loss , but what a legacy he has left , touching the hearts and minds through music of so many people .
