HILL Peacefully, at home in Guthrie, on Sunday, June 11, 2023, Jane Whyte (nee Smith), in her 101st year, beloved wife of the late Sid, much loved mum of Irene, Rosemary, Sheila, Alison, David and the late Jean, a very dear mother-in-law, granny, great-granny and friend to many. Funeral service at Parkgrove Crematorium, Friockheim, on Friday, June 23, at 2.30 p.m. Funeral private at Jean's request.

My mother, Margaret Brown Hill Lamond was first cousin to Sid, Jean’s husband. My grandfather, William Hill, was raised on the farm in Guthrie. Because of those connections, my mother spent many childhood “vacations” at the farm during the harvests. As a result, even though my family emigrated to the US, we have made frequent visits to the farm and were always made welcome by Jean and David. She was a sweet lady and so kind. As physically tiny as she was, she had a large and warm personality. When my parents were buried at the Guthrie Parish, she had the entire family into her home for an impromptu meal. I will never forget that kindness. My sincere condolences to David and his sisters from me, AileenLamond, my daughter, Meredith Hicks and the rest of the American “clan”.
