INVERARITY After a short illness, at Ninewells Hospital, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, James Alexander (Sandy) (CBE CA), aged 87, dearly beloved husband of Frances and the late Jean, much loved father of Catherine, Alison and Graeme and a dear grandfather, father-in-law and stepfather/ grandfather. Private Cremation. A Service of Thanksgiving will be held on Friday, August 11, in St. Marnock's Church, Fowlis Easter, Dundee, at 2.30 p.m., to which all family and friends are respectfully invited (black ties not required). The service will also be available online for those unable to attend in person, please contact James Ashton & Son on 01382 452110 for further information.

I have known and worked with Sandy Inverarity for almost 50 years initially over a shared interest in Strawberries but later after I moved to Scotland mainly through SAC of which he was it’s first Chairman
It was a role he filled with distinction and in his own individual way He established SAC as the organisation it is now as SRUC during a difficult time for agriculture and agricultural education. He was involved and ever supportive. He asked searching questions but always to be helpful
He was interested in the organisation but also in its staff. He was always hospitable and dinners with Sandy we always memorable He enjoyed his membership of the Farmers Club and I remember great club overseas visits with Sandy where he helped to add to the social side of the visit. Industry bodies and farming organisation will mourn the loss of a great enthusiast and a powerful advocate
